May the odds be ever in your favour

I have read all three books, watched the movie the day it opened and a second time today.

Not only that the storyline sticks closely to the book, the director also made an effort to insert new scenes for the audience to understand the movie even better. The pacing is very good, the real excitement starts before everyone gets bored.

The hand-held camera shots and the clever use of sounds and camera styles are an intimate way of relating the characters to the audience and making us see from the point of view of the characters. I personally like the part where Katniss blanked out at the start of the games and there's no sound at all.

Jennifer Lawrence is so perfect for the role!!!! I just simply love her!
Her performance was so detailed, every gesture and minute facial expression is exactly like what I have imagined in the book, but in real life she's so clumsy and funny that you can't imagine that's her!

I'm so looking forward to the second installment.
but before that.... AVENGERS.

Fluid dynamics

Fluid dynamics is a major hurdle for all Year 4 engineering students. The concept is difficult to understand and equations had to be derived. So I had the quiz today, almost 3 months of fluid dynamics content all squeezed into 2 weekends of studying.

I did better than most of them (i think) coz I memorised the momentum integral equation but I had a value wrong. Well, a lot of people left it blank. 50 marks.
Efficiency and productivity, dudes.

Now one major obstacle over, I can go full force on my FYP results and report, and then all force on other subjects that I had not laid my hands and mind on.

Exams in one month's time.

meaningful activities

I need to engage in more meaningful activities.

Over-sleeping everyday is not meaningful (more than 9 hours).
Playing iphone games like Draw Something, Triple Town and Spice Bandits is not meaningful.
Constantly looking for something to munch is not meaningful.
Excuses for not exercising is not meaningful.

Start doing FYP report is meaningful.
Study for quiz is meaningful.
Exercising to burn fats is meaningful.
Doing tutorials is meaningful.
Job hunting is meaningful.
Researching on Korea accomodation is meaningful.

Mission Bangkok

Agent E has been activated for a secret mission to Bangkok, Thailand for the first time of his life although almost everyone of his friends have been there. He has heard of the famed cheapness of the clothes but doubted their quality.

Mission: Find quality clothes in Bangkok and eat everything Thai.

He has observed that most tuk-tuk drivers and some taxi drivers are scammers. The tuk-tuk driver wasted 40 minutes of his time by bringing him to shops that gives him gas coupons but the entire trip only costs S$0.80. Another taxi driver brought him to an ulu restaurant even though he wanted to go Chinatown but he didn't charge any money.

The place is very much like Malaysia with all the undeveloped and unorganised land and slums all around.

Clothes
Platinum Mall has everything at wholesale prices. Buy more at a cheaper rate.
He finally went to the famed hot and sweaty Chatuchak Market with all tourists but most of the stores are the same as platinum mall.

Coconut ice cream damn good.

Food
Food is really cheap! He ate mango sticky rice everyday. Sometimes even twice a day because the mangoes are fakingly sweet. He drinks Matcha Latte and Thai milk tea from Black Canyon Coffee once every day because both drinks costs around $2 there while they are at least $5 in Singapore.
He also drinks coconut juice everyday to replenish lost fluids.

Roadside stalls are even cheaper.

At Chinatown, seafood is amazingly cheap and fresh.

Althogether, he bought 4 tee shirts, 2 shirts, 1 scarf, 1 pair of shorts, 6 mangoes, 2 Lays seaweed, 2 packs of Thai milk tea, 1 bottle of Lemon-grass tea, a few accessories and a lot of calories.

A good recess week holiday!
