Dental, short hair, Shanghai dance group

Half day of work on Thursday and I'm off to the dentist. I realised I haven't visited the dentist for 4 years already and also because my company's insurance now covers dental care so free dental!

So the dentist said my gums are a bit unhealthy which is expected so I need to brush properly and use mouth wash. A follow up in 3 months time then.

I thought my dental was going to take 1-2 hours but it was finished in half an hour so at 2pm I was done but my hair cut appointment was at 4pm. I went to find Chloe but she was fully booked until 4pm so I went to Bugis to grab some Ba Chor Mee, walked around a bit because the library was closed for renovation and went back to Chloe.

Last night I was thinking what style to have then I looked through my photos, the last time I had short hair was 2 years ago, so viola! Short it is.

I really love how Chloe understands what I want. We were done by 5pm but my dinner appointment was at 7pm, so I went back, showered to get rid of those little hair and came out again. 

Met Andy and Kelvin and we had french steak. It was $105 urgh. For that price I could have 4 ribeyes steaks at my favourite TCB. But ok, great catch up as always. Kelvin with all the interesting stories and changing of role in his company, Andy with his travelling plans and new employment, me making fun of them being elite high flyers buying branded things.

What a productive Thursday lol.

Jason visiting and Ellery Birthday

Jason's visiting Singapore for the second time - actually he's here for a visa run because he's based in Bkk. We didn't meet at Bkk when I was there but just nice he came over haha. We had drinks on Tuesday and checked out his room at Andaz because his company put him up at Andaz for a week. 

Like wow Tech companies are so rich nowadays and they are not even cost cutting?? Anyway I think they gave him a bigger room and it was really quite nice. I'm taking design inspiration for my house, especially the bathroom area.

Also we met on Sat because he wanted to eat raw oysters so we went to oyster bank. He's so fascinated by our local desserts lol. He went around to meet his friend while I walked around the night festival.

We met for drinks again at the same bar and then it was bye bye. He's heading back to China for a month and we will probably meet in Bangkok soon again lol.

Sunday was Ellery's party and the theme was Spiderman hehehe.

This was birthday cake I wish I had.

Yea the kids were crazy cute. Ellery was like "don't touch me I have runny nose" and then Bomba was just chilling on his own, checking out engineering things like buttons and locks and going on the mini swing all the time and I had to rock him until I got giddy and he was enjoying so much. He's super funny. 

Great party and nice to see everyone again. Next week is Ariel's party.

Bangkok 2022 Day 3 and 4

13Aug Saturday

The hotel breakfast was quite good and in small portions, I should have ordered more but I had a massage at 10am so I couldn't eat so much. The massage was below average - I think it was too weak and I didn't feel like I did a massage lol. 

Anyway back at the hotel, chilled at the pool and went to take some pictures at the glass floor on the top level haha. I couldn't look down it was too scary.

And we took BTS to Siam area. Finally haha the city center of Bangkok. We had late lunch at Siam, walked around, then back to the hotel to change to go to another fancy place. Urgh he's always taking me to fancy restaurants I just want to eat Pad Thai lol. Met Tao at the fancy Thai restaurant that Neab booked and had some drinks at the bar there with some peacock taxidermy. 

Another day of not clubbing urgh I feel so unaccomplished this trip but also because I had to wake up early for my flight at 10.40am. 

The next morning, breakfast, checked out and airport. It's bye Bangkok, until next time. I felt accomplished and non accomplished at the same time haha. I ticked all the places I wanted to go except for house of Heals and Clubbing. I also didn't make use of the hotel really well, everything's in such a rush. I am always so busy when I'm in Bangkok because people wants to meet me. 

Well, maybe next trasher party then.

Bangkok 2022 Day 2

12 Aug Friday

It was Bangkok public holiday! We had breakfast at Roast - I have missed roast so much, their bread is so good. It is currently my favourite brunch place in Bangkok. Then I went to my other main objective - Erawan Shrine, then we walked around Centralworld, got my groceries at Big C. 

Toothbrush, my 10 bars of soap and lotsa snacks, then Thai milk tea, then had blackforest cake at Kempenski Hotel, then walked around the new park in Bangkok. 

I booked 2 nights at the newest hotel in Bangkok - The Standard and never regretted. It was at the Mahanakorn, the landmark building and the hotel just opened for less than 2 weeks. I think I was the first to stay in my room. It was not too shabby.

I also had unlimited access to their rooftop bar and the skywalk, but the weather wasn't so great and there were lotsa people during sunset so we just hung for a while and went for dinner.

Before I went there I told Neab I always wanted to eat at 80/20 and he booked a table for dinner. I've been their documentary on CNA and they used 80% Thai local ingredients and 20% imported. And also they got 1 Michelin star early this year!

This was one of the best meals I've had in Bangkok. Also that multi-layer coconut dessert was the best dessert I've ever had. The food was so so good, except there was one appetizer with some insect I just cannot. We were so full after the whole course. It was totally worth the SGD 155.

Pro tip: Always celebrate something so you get free dessert and the whole restaurant singing Happy Birthday to you LOL. I was super embarrassed.

We still went for drinks after that at the new bar at Four Seasons Hotel.

Also thanks for Neab, we had a welcome drink, a free shot and free champagne because his friend is a bartender there hahaha. It was so lovely and the drinks were so good and much cheaper than Singapore. 

At the end of the day I was so exhausted I didn't even feel like going clubbing lol. I just want to soak in the tub and sleep.

Bangkok 2022 Day 1

So after Neab, Buddy and Paeng visited SG consecutively, it is a sign that I had to go Bangkok in exchange, so I checked the fares after National day. 

Flights during the National Day holidays were crazy expensive and every Singaporean would be there so I avoided that. So one month before my trip I suddenly searched Air Asia and their flights were so cheap and the timing was really good, so I just booked. $211. Not bad for a flight one month before. 

11 Aug Thursday

Neab picked me up from the airport, I put down my bags and then we drove to Ayutthaya which is an hour away from Bangkok, the ancient capital of Thailand.

Our customary welcome lunch first, then saw some ancient ruins.

We came back to Bangkok, stuck in the jam for 2hours, went to one of my main objective in Bangkok - Tichucca Rooftop Bar. I've seen so many nice pictures there I just have to go there myself. 

Tichucca checked, we went to Sushiro for dinner then back to his house to rest for the night. 

I love his house, it's so big and my guestroom is really nice and comfortable but it's just far away from the city. 

Before the trip

It is so tiring to prepare and pack for a trip. There's just so many things to think about and do for a short 3-4 days holiday and something I ask myself if it's worth it. I think I'm just really lazy now. 

Things to do:

Put and pack facial products in small bottles

Pack contact lens

Pack toothbrush and toothpaste

Think of what to wear everyday outside and pack in

Think of clothes for special meals

Think of what to sleep in

Think of swim wear

Think of shoes

Buy Sim card

Exchange currency

Pack phone chargers

Pack masks

Book massage

Cut my nails

Shave

Get ready passport and stuff

Another mental woman

I had to let this out or else I'll keep thinking about it.

I can't believe this is the second time I had to encounter this kind of woman in the office. I mean I guess there's always this female in every company who just got complacent sitting at a high level, having the retirement mentality, not wanting any change nor do any hard work, not having an open mind, just being their egoistic self that they are up there and thinking everyone has to pay respect to them.

Seriously, they should fire this kind of people. I don't know how to name this kind of people, just wasting resources and just being unproductive and only knows how to complain.

Honestly they are just full of themselves despite having only 2 years of relevant experience.

Fortunately my country risk officer and my team are very supportive and on my side. I have to pick my battles and right now, she just threw a stick over and I have a thousand spears to throw over to her. But I'm not going to waste my time on her because I have other better things to do, and I have better people to deal with/talk to/collaborate with. 

It's time to plan my business trip heh.
