Gen Z spending

It has been a very stressful week juggling between saving and buying - all the sale on Lazada and Shopee and also all the cheaply priced things on Carousell.

I can't.
I keep having the FOMO. Just because an item is cheap that means I should buy it or something but I don't even need it. I just bought a Le Labo Santal 33 on impulse - luckily I only bought a small 10ml sample, I didn't really like the scent but it might grow on me.

I've been hanging out with CC for 3 weekends, he just started working for 3 years and I'm just amazed how he spends his money, although he's earning like a fresh grad. He's wearing all those brands, a Rolex watch, and he just buys things whenever he feels like it without looking at the prices.

Like he told me he went shopping and bought 3 plain Lacoste polo shirts and each one costs like $129++, and he went Changi airport and bought $2000 worth of things. This is crazy. I earn more than twice as much as him but I don't spend my money like that.

Are all Gen Zs like that? Am I missing something? Is it social media? Is it watching too many unrealistic shows?
I know I did spend a lot more when I started working but just not like that, and now I have a financial goal I am very careful what I spend on. Even Dwayne who just started working also spends his money on staycations and drinks all the time. I guess they just need to realise that it's not sustainable for them, and it is so much better to be financially independent.

More online buys and sells

It was Lazada's birthday sale and there were all the vouchers floating around and I just had to do some online shopping for my necessities.

Yesterday was the sale day and I spent $166.15 on:
2 x expensive shampoo - me spending money on my hair again. Usual price is $65 per bottle, now $10 off.
1 x Hanz de Fuko Claymation - always wanted to try this hair clay. Usual price $30, now $10 off.
1 x air brush and mini compressor - I was waiting for this for a long time now, building up my inventory to start painting my gundams.
And after that I bought a Iope skin conditioner $32, Estee Lauder ANR $50 and a 34 Diptyque candle $35.

That day I was casually scrolling through carousell (again) and I spotted somebody selling this 600g Diptyque candle for $30.
I guess she doesn't know what this is and the true value of this, so I immediately drove over to pick it up from her. I can't believe it. It's the real thing for $30.

2 days later I sold it away for $170. Woohoo!

Melt at Mandarin Oriental

Kelvin came back from Shanghai after 2 years and I am quite happy that he's back now! Cheap Ben and Jerry's!!!

He brought my Bonsai tree back from Shanghai and just nice there was some 1 for 1 lunch buffet promotion on Melt cafe at Mandarin Oriental so I booked a Saturday lunch.
It has been so long since my last hotel buffet. This was so worth it, we had 3 boston lobsters each, a dozen oysters and prawns and many many other food and so many desserts. All for $40 per pax woohoo! Yum yum in my tum tum! The food was good, service was good. It was a very good deal.

Oh and he bought an Adidas t shirt for me, very nice fit.

Sleeping cycle

My sleeping cycle is totally screwed. Haywire.

I have been sleeping at 1.30am recently and waking up at 7am, rolling around till 7.30am, waking up to 9.15am alarm and going back to sleep at 9.30am and waking up at 10.50am, and also napping at 1pm to 1.30pm. It is crazy. How can my body be more consistent? I feel sleepy all the time!

Next week I'm going back to office, I have to sleep before 1am and wake up at 7.50am. It's another crazy cycle again, this is so unhealthy.

Big expenses in March

From the start of the month I have bought so many expensive toys just because I was bored.

1. Lego Bonsai Tree - $70
This was $89 and above in Singapore and sold out all the Lego stores but I love the design so much that I asked Kelvin to buy from Taobao hehe. So nice!
2. Tenga Flip Zero - $76
It was on 40% sale in Donki when I just walked past it and I was so curious. The cheapest I saw was $101 in Shopee and Japan was even more expensive. I thought about it for a week and bought it. All I can say is that it is a really good buy hahaha.

3. Finasteride - $245
Yea it's just to top up my supply of meds. Sigh.

4. 10 boxes of contact lens - $200
Since everyone's coming back from China and I need to stock up my supplies. I think I should be buying more tho.

5. Pola lotion - $10
Again, somebody is selling so cheap in carousell I just can't resist.

6. RG Evangelion Unit 01 - $80
There was a $20 voucher on Shopee for min. spending of $100 so I bought this, which I have been wanting to buy in Japan. And now there's a night combat version coming out in June. Sigh. It's sold out everywhere in Singapore as well, so I could always sell it if I want the night combat version.
7. 2 x Diptyque candles - $40
I bought 2 extra Diptyque candles at $40 and then sold it for $62. Hehehe

There goes my $520 from IPPT.
Now I need to wait for the Taobao shopping fest to buy my unit 00, 02 and 06. Thinking if I shld buy a Unicorn Gundam as well, you know just to fill my time. I haven't bought all my painting kits as well. Sigh, when is Japan coming.

Basic bitch

I have officially became a basic bitch.

Previously: Not going to buy coffee when there's free coffee in office.
Now: Buys ice latte every time after lunch. Luckily there's a place with $3 promotion. The free coffee in office tastes like drain water.

Previously: Basic skin care will do.
Now: Separate day and night routine, and alternate days routine.

Previously: White sneakers are ridiculous. Shoes should be dark coloured because they get dirty so easily.
Now: Owns 3 pairs of white leather sneakers. Plus a set of sneakers maintenance kit.

Previously: Who would spend money on scented candles? It's burning money.
Now: Owns 2 Diptyque candles. My room smells nice lol.

Previously: T-shirts should be less than $50. Shoes should be less than $100.
Now: Bought a $120 T-shirt last year. I love the design and so does my friends. And also just bought the Magnanni white leather sneakers for $212.

My younger self would judge me so much.

IPPT Gold

In case it is not clear enough
After taking once in Dec and once in Jan before my birthday, I knew it was the 2.4km running that I needed to work on for my Gold. I have been training for my sit-ups and running in the gym for a few weeks now, even during CNY I continued training.

10 mins of cardio after weights training is the best. I've seen improvements in my body as well, some tummy fats are gone and also my 2.4km timing getting better.

I was going do this as a trial coz I was waiting to take together with Kelvin when he comes back next week so I just booked this for fun. I didn't feel very energetic that day so I didn't have much expectations, and I didn't even drink red bull or whatever energy drink. And also I had issues with the sit up machine because it didn't count my first rep so the trainer decided to count for me manually. And after I got full points for both stations, I only had to run 12.40min for my 2.4km. I knew $500 was going to be mine.

2.4km was fairly relaxing. I was the last person in the running queue and it felt good to overtake so many people hehe.
1st round 1.50
2nd round 3.45
3rd round 5.45
4th round 7.50
Then I walked for 15 sec on the 5th round
5th round 10.00
and walked for 10 sec on the 6th round and dashed to the finishing line.
6th round 12.12

Earned $520 in 1 hour. Worth it!
Time to go shopping.

A lizard story

Lizzy sneaked in to the house from the corridor outside and had been living in the storeroom since the middle of last year. He often come out after midnight and I could hear him squeaking/clicking at night when I was going to bed. It is very very annoying.

I spotted him a few times at night but didn't manage to get rid of him. Once I spotted him at the kitchen wall and sprayed insecticide at him but he dropped to the floor and ran away. I thought he was gone because I didn't hear any noise for a few nights but he came back again. I made a plan in my mind to get rid of him the next time I see him.

So last night I went to the bathroom and came out, and saw Lizzy at the same place on the kitchen wall. Immediately, I took a pail and insecticide. Like I practiced in my mind, I sprayed the insecticide at him, he dropped to the pail, I checked and flunk him outside the window. Smooth. Bye Lizzy.

I felt bad for a little bit but I realised he might survive since he's so light and it's actually better for him outside.

I finally got rid of the house lizard after so many months. Woohoo!
