Xmas in Shanghai

I thought China don't celebrate Christmas and there is no public holiday, but all of the locals tell me that the xmas spirit this year is really good. It was also my first Xmas in winter, would be perfect with snow.

And suddenly out of the blue we had to organise a Xmas party for the company. I think it was because of me... hee hee... because besides me, there's a French but he's back in France.

It was quite a happy one, minus all the xmas food and cakes and goodies (sighs), but at least the president dressed up as Santa to distribute gifts. And we had lucky draw all that.

After that party, went to another xmas party at a friend's house.

A warm and homely party with 2 kids and local food, because one of our friend owns a Singaporean restaurant.

Merry Xmas everyone! My presents are bought on my own from taobao. haha, and I specially bought a xmas sweater that I had been wanting for very long.

Hee hee.

comfort zone

Thursday night we had dinner with Sabrina, whose husband Harri is posted back to Singapore so me and lynn treated dinner.
Another reason was because she wanted to give out her remaining stuff here.

Harri was the first comic junkie whom I met, just as mad as I am, but he's richer because he buys everything from Marvel and DC. Its crazy expensive!

We went to her house after desserts and its like going to a garage sale just that everything was free!! hee hee

Haha I got:
1. A heater, she had reserved specially for me because it was my first winterand I've been wanting a heater to add on to my AC. haha. And it's work really well in my apartment!
2. A fan, for the summer and I have been wanting to buy one, also to add on to my ac. haha
3. Others stuff like lotsa tea bags and cleaning stuff.

The heater and the fan are the real deal because I've been wanting to get them but just didn't want to waste my money on it because I have my AC. Woohoo!! My life in Shanghai just got much easier...

dream max

I was walking along a street in somewhere when I saw Max's homemade cupcakes and there were really the 2 main characters in it! They said they really opened the shop real life and I went ahead to talk to Max ( I have no idea what's her real name).

Then I asked her if she wanted to have dinner with me, but she said "oh, I have plans already" then her friends cancelled dinner with her immediately so she said "yeah, my friends cancelled on me so you'r lucky tonight".

On the way she asked me what I was doing but I was really confused if I worked in US or Singapore or China. But I was in the US because that's where their shop is, and I have no idea why I was there! Anyway we were having Italian dinner and chatted a bit when I woke up.

Yea I've been dreaming lately and a lot of them involved my M'sian cousins. Hm... I wonder...

First winter

This is my first winter over a period of more than 2 weeks.

It is 2 degrees at night now and the temperature is dropping everyday till after March.

The air is dry and very very cold, and I have to survive on the air-con, which also acts as a heater, to sleep at night.

Bathing is a test of cold endurance and I have since stopped bathing in the morning.

Cold cold cold!

Vistors in Shanghai

Last last weekend some BJ peeps came over to Shanghai for the weekend. For the past month I have been going to the gym religiously everyday to win the tummy race but the results had not been significant as I was told but my pants definitely were not as tight as before.

Anyway it's all-eat-no-gym weekend with them travelling in Shanghai.

Red Ruby, Wai Po Jia, Zhu Jia Jiao, Xiao Yang Sheng Jian, Bao Zhu Dessert, Black Magic Chocolate, Blue Frog, Napolean Chocolate bar, Element Fresh and Lao Sheng Cang.

And then the following week, another uni friend came over for an exhibition and he will be posted to Beijing or Shanghai next year! Yay to friend finally coming over.

It was really strange how fate intertwine. He has a real twin who studies in the same school, faculty and hangs out with my JC 'twin' and I am actually hanging out with my friend, who is same school and faculty as me. Coincidence??

shanghai traffic is too crazy

and once again, I would like to remind myself that the traffic in Shanghai is way too crazy.

My knees almost got crushed by an illegal taxi reversing into another illegal taxi at the traffic junction when the green man is on.

Thanks to the auntie who shouted at the driver that people were walking behind the car.
