Because somebody is in town

Such a happening week!

During the weekend I went to Hangzhou to stay for the night at the hostel and I was so impressed by how wonderful the hostel was! Its was very hidden at a corner of a small lane and well decorated with chinese architecture and surprisingly clean for a cheap hostel! The bar was also very nice and cosy with a few people. I think it was better and more value for money than staying in a hotel.

A morning 1.5hr bus ride took us to Anji, the place famous for the great bamboo sea where they filmed crouching tiger hidden dragon. The place was very small, with no accessible public transport except for cabs and our hostel was very very isolated, although it's right beside the bamboo museum.

We took a cab to the mountains with the hidden dragon waterfall and it started raining heavily while ascending the mountain. The view from the top was pretty amazing with the rain clouds and fog. We then met an uncle who brought us to a reservoir they call sky pool. It was closed by he used some connections to let us enter and we were the only ones at the attraction!

The place was pretty boring at night, we took bus back to HZ the next morning. Overall a nice place but its better with a tour group with a driver.

The next few days brought somebody around, a lot of late nights and good meals like lunch at Mr and Mrs Bund, one of the best restaurants in Shanghai and My grandma, a cheap place for chinese food, famous for its long queue during dining hours. Black magic chocolate was pretty good too. Vue bar was disappointing, people smoke and not much seats, Shanghai brewery is much better.

Because living in Shanghai is so epic

Saturday the 3 of us went to the organic farm market and we were late but there were no one except us.
Ha, and slowly people started to stroll in and there were 6 of us in that hot farm and 2 brazillian ladies had a cooking lesson for us. Went to Shanghai Breweries at night for burgers and beer. Mmm mm.

Sunday after yoga I went home and outside my door I heard an alarm-like beeping sound. At first I thought it was gas leak coz my landlord had installed a safety alarm or I forgot to turn off the alarm clock, but it was the air condition. I tried to fix it, but it just won't stop beeping so I pulled the plug and called my landlord, who came over and fixed it. So he left and after a while the beeping started again and I can't turn off or on the aircon, so he said might as well buy another one, so i'm left with no air con for the next two days. WHAT. HOW TO SURVIVE AT NIGHT!?! and  I only have this small USB fan which I bought, which I don't know if I'm lucky or not.

So I managed to survive the night with my small fan and fully opened windows.

Monday the air con was delivered to my house so I had to get home in the afternoon after they called me. BUT it was raining, hurricane style. I walked to the train station and it was like i took a shower with my clothes on, even when i had my umbrella. The delivery man was already at my door, so she took it in and left. That's when I realised the electricity was cut. Drenched to the last bit, electricity cut, hurricane rain, I couldn't bathe so i dried myself and I couldn't return to the office. I was stuck at home for 2 whole hours without electricity, before the rain stopped and I had to wait for the repair man to switch on my electricity supply again. It was just a switch on my power box -_-

I returned to office, booked haircut appointment at 8pm and went to Monsoon for a haircut after work. Yeah, they have expanded to Shanghai, and I had a package: Cut, Care, Dye for $37sgd. CHEAP! and my stylist was very detailed, and the whole session lasted till 10.15, I was the last customer to leave the shopping center via the employee exit. haha. AND the repairman came to remove the spoilt aircon at 10.45pm in my house and he told me, no landlord will buy a Daikin AC for the tenant, because its too expensive so either he is very rich or very nice.

And so, I survived, yet another night without AC and with my USB fan.

Tuesday I woke up at 6am when the landlord called me and told em the aircon installation people will be here at 7. 5 hours of bad sleep, I pulled myself and prepared for the installation. And again, they told me they have never heard of the landlord buying a Daikin aircon for the tenant, so I guess he felt bad for letting me sleep w/o the aircon in the hot summer. Finally it was done at 8am and I had a completely new aircon in my room! WOOHOO I never felt so shiok in the summer before.

Took my time to clean up the room and I had some time allowance since my manager knows about my AC so I conveniently scrubbed the toilet, mopped the floor and washed the bed sheets before heading to work at 10am. HA. and I told my manager about the Daikin, she and my colleague were shocked too by how generous my landlord is. Well I guess I'm fortunate to have rented the room from him!

Living in Shanghai is so epic.
