Lewis Hamilton

I just took part in a quiz in the company website and won a ticket to an F1 event to see Lewis Hamilton!

It's not the F1 race (i dun think they will ever give that out), just a charity event that my company organised because we are the sponsor of Lewis's vodafone maclaren mercedes team.

The event was a simple dragonboat race at Singapore River. Its quite a big but low-key event, we had a F1 goodie bag, buffet lunch and Lewis was there to participate in the race. He chose to be the drummer, he said he want to paddle in the future. ha i hope i have a chance to see that again.

FYI, this guy is the youngest F1 world champion at 22 years old in 2008, before that he won a lot more races. He's one of the most talented and watched-after racers this generation and already earned enough money to last a few lifetimes. I am still struggling with life, school and work at 23 and did not even win any national champion before.

Competitive male ego eat me up please.

anyway, I was so close to him, i had a chance to get his autograph on this F1 book but i forgot to bring a marker. -_- to the max........ there goes my chance to earn $200 on ebay.

The F1 season is heating up this weekend! Adam Lambert is coming to perform, and MARIAH CAREY!!! CAN U BELIEVE IT??? MARIAH CAREY IS COMING!!! I SO WANNA GO WATCH but i am still a poor working student. (spell: no money)

Hais. I hope I can become Lewis Hamilton. probably next lifetime. or the next. or the next.

Eason weekend

Friday evening i had Billy Bombers at JP and WQ had 50% discount voucher so we ate like $80 worht of food for 3 person. and then, they gave us another 50% voucher. ($30 off for $60 spending).. so means i have to go back again. -_-

ok so i finally got my headphones!! main purpose is to watch GlEE on my PSP and watch movies on my lappie! Nice right.

The night hadnt ended! Went to 7th Heaven for some ice cream with huat. Blackforest ice cream is sooo chocolatey and rummy!! but tad expensive and isolated shop though.
and then, just randomly picked up another friend who happens to be out and stays in the west too. What a night!

The next day is Eason Chen's concert, with Tanya Chua as a guest performer and I kinda like his live performance. He really has a good singing voice! i think it related to their cantonese heritage, most cantonese male singers have different voice layers which can express their emotions in the song. Cool. and ate macdonald's after that.

Sunday, got a haircut, did my logbook but didnt complete and went running, read my comics that are accumulating, rested a bit.
thats all!

X new year

Everytime i meet my cousins it feels like Chinese New Year, but this time round its not Chinese. I tot i'll be bored to bits but if you have both active cousins and brain activties, nothing is boring and finally we had more than enough drivers and cars! For the moment, I almsot forgot whats work and study, like they didnt exist in my dictionary.

Spent the whole afternoon with the aunties buying mooncakes, teabreaks and discussing 台湾龙卷风 (i almost died), huge dinner at home and then at night I drove the kids teenagers out for some fun. Wanted to catch a midnight movie but it was all sold out, and then we went for nice bubble tea and lots of street-side supper.

Saturday morning we had booked 2 tables to Bah Kut Teh at Kota Tinggi, a 30 min ride and it was like in the middle of the highway, in the middle of the forest and crowded with people in a saturday morning!! It's at such an unbelievable location and people can still make their way there. The taste is unbelievable too. It's one of the best Bah Kut Teh i've eaten. Its not the peppery kind, but the chinese herb kind which makes a fantasic soup base, a generous portion of ribs and meat, pig intestine and mushroom. Its was MMMMMMMMMMMMMPPHHH heavenly! ok my saliva's dripping just thinking about it.

and then it was all eating and walking all around, and then at night the main-purpose of the trip: the party. It was somebody's birthday (one of our inifinite family friends).

Surprisingly its was a smooth ride to and fro, no jams across the borders with only slight rain.

As the adults are comparing Singapore and Country X, my analytical mind came online subconciously.

After listening to all of my relatives and friends, i can only conclude, to do well and get rich in Country X, you only have a few options. If you are race X, become a government officer. If you are Chinese, one way is to make an honest living in Singapore, another is to gain connections and do illegal jobs. There is absolutely no way to get rich without doing one illegal job or another in this kind of political scene. I have too many live examples.

Whereas in our country where nothing illegal is tolerated, the law will be knocking on your doors the second something is amiss. Famous examples: Sunshine empire, a certain City Church, the NKF saga. Corruption is not heard of, because they do it legally.

I read on the discussion section in the papers in Country X, some of them didnt like the elitist society and high cost of living here. I do have to agree on the elitist society where our democratic society rewards those with better results. It makes sense - the ones with better brains/talent/abilty yield better.
For high cost of living, its how you look at it. Off-the-roof property and transport prices, rising cost of public transport and food, those are crazy and i really hate that. But hey, education, property is heavily subsized to help the not-so-well-off, GST packages, strong economy and eco-friendly environment are some of the advantages derived from them. In any case, there's always the neighbouring places to avoid the high costs. haha.

Well, of cause i'll choose here anytime. I see safety as a very important factor. who want to fear losing your life when you walk on the streets? who likes to fear burglars in your every night? Education and transport is definitely better here too. I'm not being patriotic but sometimes i think i'm more fortunate than some of them and how my life would have been if i wasnt born here.

HR weekend

Okay i'm going away to visit relatives at JB this long Hari Raya wkend.

I hope there's good fun, food and entertainment!

Michelle Phan

Ever since I discovered the existance of this girl on youtube by accident yesterday, I've been watching her videos even though I'm not interested in all the make-up stuff and i've been infactuated with her! Her voice is just so mesmorising, clean and pure!

So as a highly trained military intelligence recon, i gathered information about her in the internet. and i highly doubt any guy would know about her or become her fan, therefore increasing my chances of being known to her and making contact, unlike the far-impossible Taylor Swift.

Top 10 reasons why Michelle Phan should be my girlfriend

1. We are not attached
2. We are both Asians (she's Vietnamese American)
3. We came from similar family backgrounds
4. We are of the same age (born in 1987)
5. We are love video games and comic books (yes she openly declared that)
6. We are intellectually and characteristically matched.
7. We are not bad looking
8. We have stable career path
9. I am an engineer (refer to the article "why girls should marry engineers)
10. We love to work abroad

so now the problem is.. how do i get to know her?!?! she's so busy flying around, working, i do not have her non-business-related email and ultimately, its hard to maintain a LTR. This is saddening. Well, fate has its own ways.

In the meantime, check out her Perfume video!

the korean boss

My korean boss was posted to Singapore for 9 years already, and have been working in EM for a long time.

He was married at age 23, his son is currently studying in US and his daughter and wife is in Seoul and flies over regularly.

His previous house was in Bukit Timah, a bunglow, 3 storeys with 7 bedrooms. He had 7 fridges in the house and when he gave away some to his friends and put the remaining on the first floor, he said it was troublesome because he had to walk down to the first floor just to get drinks.

He lives in a condominium in Orchard Road, just behind Shangri-la hotel and drives to work everyday. He says if we like korean ramen he would invite us to his house and his wife would cook for us.

When we lunch together, he always say that he dun understand why i dont have a girlfriend because he thinks I am nice and handsome and would introduce his daughter to me if she isnt attached. I will always joke that I'll be waiting.

heh. i'm just kidding.

hot yoga again

So i went for hot yoga again, after a very long hiatus.

It was torturous but awesome after that!
The stretching, the holding, the superman poses, i feel so stretched after a few months of office work!

I've learn some new challenging poses to try out at home, for example from a push-up postion, straighten your hands, slowly lift up left leg and lift right hand to hold your left toe. just imagine that. hahah

I had a super deep sleep at night and the next morning my entire body joints cracked like my first yoga session.
ultimate shiok feeling!
