22nd birthday

the day itself doesn't feel like a bdae coz it's still CNY, and hm... i was playing basketball and bringing my cousins out for a walk.

still waiting for my bdae mood and celebrations to come! hahahax. :)

Chinese New Year 09

i hereby declare Chinese New Year is my favourite time of the year!

Returning to my mum's hometown, the simple life, it's a blessing to have such a place to retreat to, especially when you are tired of the rush and bu city life, technology all those stuff.

sitting outside the house just feels so relaxing,
the wind brushes past you on a lazy afternoon,
the clear cloudless blue sky,
chickens run around the place,
the laughter of the young cousins surrounds you,
all the your problems and troubles suddenly disappear,
your memories refreshed to a blank sheet,
time just passes slowly even though you wished it would stop.

that's simple kampong life for you!
how i wished my younger cousins would cherish this scene instead of playing computer whole day long. we used to play around the place before the computers came, just plain running around and catching. but it's true there's not much you can do when u'r a teenager there coz those games the kids play no longer appeal to you.

this year it's like revisiting teenage years.. haha i finally learnt basketball and practised shooting the hoop, then took my gang of cousins for a big walk, to explore around the forest and places we'r never visited before like the fruit plantations and stuff, haha like army sia.
searching the pond for fishes, watching out for spider and snake, everyone had a walking stick, up the hill for the view and they tired out easily and the youngest one said 'guo nian guo dao zhe yang xing ku' hahahax. and when ppl ask 'what u do on chinese new year?' 'oh i went on an expedition exploring the forest.' haha weird.

and they started calling me 'lao you zhi' coz i said i like to watch ben ten and they know that i had gundams and i have a lot of candies on my table. -_-"

anyway, this year's cny is like last year, quiet coz there's not much fire crackers to play around. the onli one is the hong pao, the long red ones where u hang on a pole. the police are quite strict in recent years.

i mean, what's cny w/o fire crackers!??!! it's like xmas w/o xmas trees and presents.

the part of cny i love most is the fire crackers!
sometimes i do pity sporean kids who haf never played with fire crackers before, your cny isn't been complete.
haha, it's like the main event of CNY, apart from angpows. lucky i recorded some stuff from previous years! will be up next entry! pardon the quality coz i used my hp cam.

2 changes

i made 2 major changes to my looks just in time for CNY!

previously too many people haf told me i'm too hairy. i've got a hairy face, i must really admit, and i dun wanna shave coz it'll grow out thick and ugly! and the facial hair is too thin to be noticed when far, but if u observe me close enuff you can see them.

THEREFORE, as suggested by many frens, instead of shaving i went for threading. at the famous clementi indian lady shop. and conveniently meeting px and les agnes.

it wasn't a good experience.

ok mayb it's my first time.
starting it's just itchy, but when she gets to the thicker hair, it's like frm mosquito-bite into a lion's bite. OMG.
my whole body was so tensed up, my hands turned cold, my eye squeezed out tear.

threading face for guys is not a good idea after all. and especially being laff-ed at by agnes and px after that.

but my face is hair-free for CNY! bye bye to 'hairy' comments!

anyway we had dinner at botak jones at clementi! haha, and the two girls haf much to exchange about their relationships and i had to be the representative for males. hahax. my opinions will be in another entry.

so today, wednesday
after computing tutorial today, i went to johore! how fortunate to have cousins living there! haha.
i went to colour my hair! at a place my cousin recommended and she does it there too.

it's not exactly the colour i wanted but it's near, coz the stylist said my hair absorbs the colour very fast and my hair absorbs too much, so it's actually lighter than the dark brown i wanted. with a tint of red. yups red for CNY!

so the main point is it's DAMN CHEAP!!!
chapter 2 had quoted me with $109 for cut and colour, i coloured and trimmed my hair for 60RM! one quater of the chapter 2 price! it's really worth the hassle to go johore esp when it's so convenient to go there now. haha!
then my cousin brought me for many yummy stuff around there, like the chao meefen.. ice kachang.. WOOHOO! shiokness cheap and good. hahaha.

pre cny

i'm actually quite excited for 9th feb,
it's when the results for the GSS are emailed to us and i get to know if i'm going taiwan, korea or nothing. haha, i've regretted a little applying for taiwan first choice after i realised i have to use my chinese name there. argh.

The Lunar New Year festive mood is felt all around, all the goodies from my dad's fren, all the mandarin oranges in the fridge, the spring cleaning, the deco at NTU, wow!! i really hope for a good CNY!

well, i dun think i'm getting any outfits for cny this year..
firstly due to no time to shop,
secondly due to no special liking to any pieces,
thirdly due to bad economic times. hahaa and i have to save up for my summer exchange so that i can spam all my savings.

did i mention my bdae falls on chu er? haha which means i'll be spending my bdae at port dickson.. my cousin was mentioning he remembered coming to my bdae party not long ago and now it's my birthday again. I DUN WANNA GROW UP!!

cindy flew back to US again, hung out quite a bit with her when she came back and we had cousins outing once again, but this time it's potluck at ah ma's hse!



Ah ma is super funny! we put the camera on timer, then when the timer starts, ah ma was saying her clothes were untidy and she went on to adjust then everyone started " ah ma! ah ma! look there! look there!" and it went on for 3 times. hahahax! anyway it was quite fun eating together, just like CNY.

then some nights ago, SMU had this Film Fest which featured Keluar Baris! (remember the youtube trailer i put up some month ago?). The short film by Boo Jun Feng, which both cindy and i had wanted to watch so eagerly and we finally got to watch it!!!

anyway there were also series of short films, which some of them i do not understand at all. haha. and at the end of the films there was a short dialogue session with Boo Jun Feng and Daryl Pan, the lead of the film! ultimate coolness to meet both of them in person. Boo Jun Feng is said to be the upcoming local director with the most potential. Unfortunately we did not thought of taking pictures with them at that moment. argh so sad.

we went for rocher tau huay after that. yumminess.

Chinese New Year is coming! i haven't shopped for my New Year clothes and all i did was online window shopping at abercrombie website which did not include its sale items at all. i saw the shirt which i bot at boston going for 70usd while i bot at 20usd. see the difference in price?!

regretted not buying more abercrombie at boston! hm. and dix was already checking out of the NY hotel when i talked to her.
looks like i have no fate with abercrombie. heh.

sem 2 day 1

it's my first official day of school (last week is not considered) and it's already taking a toll on me!

oh man i feel so drained on the first day already how am i gonna survive for the rest of the week or sem?!?!
today's lecture's from 10.30am up to 6.30pm with 2 hr break in between, considered one of my heaviest days. the timetable this sem is loaded with more lectures and tutorials.

but i'm still on the holiday mood.

the december holidays have been my most enjoyable holidays so far, all the things i wanted to do, sleeping at 2.30 and taking up at almost 11.30, watching tv non-stop, watching bu liang xiao hua and ming zhong zhu ding every night, hanging out with frens, partying and k-ing non-stop.

now i have problem waking up, even at 9.30!

and i've been missing on my weekly gundam 00 and gossip girls and heroes!!

i have to adjust to sch life asap! lab, homework, quizzes...

btw i've signed up for Global summer studies, that's summer school. first choice taiwan, second and third korea, reason being i'm paying for my own and taiwan is cheaper than korea. as much as i wanna go to korea's ewha women's uni, the accomodation is 700usd, which is around 1000sgd, as compared to taiwan's 350sgd. but either is fine as long as i get to hang out overseas! and guys can only get to enter korea's ewha women's uni via summer exchange! hee hee.

2009

2009 will be another life-turning year for me, with a lot of plans coming up in my life!

this year i have made certain personal decision which will be kinda life-changing, or rather another turning point of my life. i'll reveal when the time is ripe.

and it's 10th anniversary with my pri sch friends! hahaha.

i haven made resolutions for many years, its time for me to make some plans for the year ahead!
In year 2009...
i hope i can have break-throughs this year, be it in academic, social, aims or future life, and be a better 'me' every year!
i hope to make significant progress towards my dream.
i hope for better health, safety, and happiness for family and friends!

looking back 2008

for the past few years, I realised i haven't been looking back and recapping all the significant events that has happened to me and make resolutions for the year ahead, so i decided to do so, especially when 2008 has been an unforgettable year for me.

ok let me start with 2 years back, haha, after JC years and into the 2 locked and wasted years.

2006-2007
i worked for the first time.
went to Hong Kong.
started 2 year enslavement. ok 1 yr 10 months to be exact.
lived on my own for the first time.
learnt how to ride a motorbike.
met all kinds of people, average/traditional/eccentric
survived 1 week of survival training in the jungle.

2007 was quite a stagnant year.
went to Taiwan and haf quite some fun. learnt left-hand riding and rode into many unexplored and dangerous terrains.
ran the longest distance of my life.
started learning car driving.
pluck wisdom teeth.
started tuition with edgar.

hm.. that's about all for the 2 years of wasted youth. Although it could have been spent in a better way, but well since we have no choice it's better to get something out of it rather than nothing. so i'm glad for the experience which forces us to be independent.

2008 has been filled with life-turning events, with many significant turning points my life.

2008
Jan- the start of many 21st birthdays, i had my 21st bdae party.

Feb- Ended the enslavery of 1 yr and 10 months on CNY eve, and spent my CNY in peace. so relieved.

March- Worked in an office environment and banking industry for the first time,
Acquired my driving licence, first passengers were yk and hy and ht. hahahax and many driving experiences after that.
Got another job in Citibank as well.

June- The adventure of a lifetime.
First time flying alone, and in a long-haul flight. went to Shanghai, then New York and Boston, which, till now, i haven blogged. it's the most dangerous/exciting roller coaster ride of my 21 years.
Oh and i was acompanied by my black and slim japnese girlfriend ;)

August to Dec- started a 4 years course in NTU, and stayed in hall.
back to being a student, exams and stuff.
Found myself again.
i went back to Port Dickson once more.
and i've got a new job in the Indoor Stadium.
watched taiwanese shows and got a new idol.

This year was filled with many farewells for friends studying/working overseas. New friendship forged, existing ones remained or even went onto a whole new level, like the dearies: my pri sch classmates. 2009 is our 10th year anniversary! hahax. We grew even closer this year and even went on overseas trips together.

I didn't join them for their Thai trip because of my Boston trip. This particular trip opened my mind and eyes to a whole new world outside of the sunny island. What most people haven't experienced before, the american culture, their food and streets and their way of life. Every travel experience is an open door to learning! I hope it won't be the last time i'm travelling there!

Supper is our favourite night activity this year with my driving licence and the car at night! i think i've clocked more mileage than many others- on trips to the airport, east coast, supper places. hahax. but before this car licence i had acquired 1 year plus of road experience and learnt left-hand riding before in taiwan. Talking about Taiwan, i've watched more shows than past years. haha like bu liang xiao hua and ming zhong zhu ding, all completed after exams, towards the end of the year. and we always went on jiang xiao hua frenzies. haha.

I'm glad i found my old self back after hiding away during ns. No more need to do things in fear. Look at everything with an open mind. say whatever you feel like without hesitation. that's the taste of freedom. I'm still an Aquarius, loves freedom, unpredictable and always accustomed to transitions.

Thank you friends and whoever had made an impact in my life in 2008, thank you for all the wonderful memories. Goodbye 2008, it's time to head to 2009 for greater heights!
