Danang 2018

The seaside route from Danang to Hoi An is so pretty it looks like Hawaii.

After checking into the boutique hotel we walked to the beach at around 3pm. 1 min into the beach and I'm sold. It is totally beautiful, clean, not crowded and the sand are so comfortable. I kept thinking to myself this is the best beach I've been to, even better than Phuket or Bali.

And the best thing: We had 2 beer and 2 chairs for $2.50. REALLY $2.50 SGD. I can't believe it. Beautiful scenery, cheap beer, good showering facilities, I'm totally sold.

We went for a quick café fix before dinner, drank at Cong Caphe, a communist themed café. 

I'm in love with this noodles. It's like pho but more like ramen texture, and the soup is so flavourful. This is Mi Quang, one of the best in Danang. Luckily there weren't much people when we reached coz it's 8pm. After that we went souvenir shopping at the supermarket, then went back hotel to put down our stuff, went to a rooftop bar.

The rooftop bar wasn't amazing, so we went to another bar opened by an award-winning bartender. The drinks were really amazing and we had 2 free shots.

The next morning we headed to the beach again for the morning sun and quick dip into the clear waters, then had pho for lunch, then began to climb marble mountain.

It was an easy hike, just walking up the stairs, the difficult part was the caves. The caves were really cool though. I want to visit the largest cave in Vietnam next time. We haven't had our caffine fix so another café for us. This was only $1.50 can you believe it.

We changed hotel, washed up and then went out for dinner. I had to carry my bag along because I'm heading straight to the airport. The last dinner was also so noms that Ryan went back another time the next day. DIY Vietnamese roll, noodles and pancakes. The sauce is the bomb, I can have it with just rice or noodles, but it's also one more the more expensive local food we had, which is $10 for 2 person.

Coffee and desserts again after this full meal, then I took grab to the airport. I have no idea why there were so many Koreans in Danang but the airport was actually nice, better than most airports in the region.

I can't stop praising Danang and Hoi An, this was unexpectedly a good trip and beach holiday for me. I want to stay at Intercontinental Danang next time. Just kidding. One stay there can pay for my entire holiday already.

I will be back, Danang, I have yet to explore Hue and eat more banh mi and buy more G&T. 

Hoi An 2018

So thankful for friends who have been to Danang, my Vietnamese friend who helped me with the trip and translate some of the Vietnamese words, and my random travelling friend who randomly invited me for the trip hahaha.

This Danang and Hoi An trip is truly amazing, I totally enjoyed the trip but I hate the early flight. I had to reach the airport at 5.30am for the 7am flight, then I reached Ho Chi Minh City at 8am and walked around to check in at the domestic airport, activated my SIM card but realised Starhub doesn't have service, so I walked back to the international airport to by a $5 SIM card that gave me 2GB for 1 week. 

I had 4 hours to chill in HCMC so I took a grab taxi to the city, walked around to check out café, and settled for a Vietnamese coffee and Banh Mi at L'usine café, which I later found out is overpriced for $8. Well, at least the coffee and food was good.

I had no more time so I headed straight back to the airport for my next flight to Danang. I waited an hour for Ryan to arrive then hopped onto our booked car to go to Hoi An.

The whole atmosphere of Hoi An is so amazing. Really cheap and good food, desserts and street food, rooftop bars etc.
The next morning we booked a tour to visit My Son which is a mini Angkor Wat.

 We borrowed the Vietnamese hat from another tourist to take pics hahaha. After the half day tour we eat the best Banh Mi in Hoi An. It is so delicious I can't wait to go back there to eat this. Can you believe this is only $1 SGD omg.

 We also stumbled upon this crowded chicken rice shop which is filled with locals. $2.50 for a full meal of Vietnamese chicken rice.

There are so many cafés around and Hoi An Roastery is one of the best around. This is egg coffee, which tastes like egg coffee pudding.

Introducing the best Gin Bar in Hoi An called the T room. We went there on Sat night but it was closed at 9.30pm so we went back there again at 6pm the next day. The drinks were so so good and cheap. The owner infused her own gin. We had Vanilla and Pomelo, rose and cardamom, longan and lime and something with black pepper. One of the best gin bars I've been to and it's in Hoi An. I saw asked if the infused gin were for sale and added one Vanilla and Pomelo to my Gin stash. Luckily Ryan bought carry on luggage if not I wouldn't be able to bring my bottle back.

So much feels in Hoi An. It is beautiful at night with all the lanterns. The Gin Bar owner also introduced us to one of the better restaurants, so we headed there for dinner. I had the chilli beer which was a bit spicy haha.

After 48 hours in Hoi An, we headed back to Danang for the beach and city life.

Another random trip

Just when I thought I had enough of random and impromptu trips, I just booked another one yesterday for next weekend hehe. This marks my 3rd impromptu trip.

So R and I chatted and suddenly he said he's going Vietnam for a work trip but he's going Danang and Hoi An first to have a break and asked me if I want to tag along. OF COZ. I have wanted to go Danang and Hoi An for the longest time and now I have the chance to go woohoo!

 And I really could use a break right now.

In March everyone's posting Sakura in Japan. In April, last week, everyone's posting Songkran in Thailand. So right now there's no season for anything so tomorrow I'm going to fill my IG stories with my beach holiday in Hoi An and Danang. Cya and envy bitches. 

Internal move outcome

I just got the news and truthfully, I am very disappointed at the outcome. I had passed everything and they were ready to accept me on the other side but it was my manager who is the obstacle.

What do you mean I am not eligible?

Ain't you supposed to be an enbler?

Ain't you supposed to support me in my career?

Ain't you supposed to look out for me instead of hindering me?

If I'm stuck here I'll never be eligible. 

I'm stuck with a manager who doesn't know how the corporate world works.

This really sucks.

Suit and tie

I seldom wear suit and tie and I dislike wearing tie. But when I wear, it's because I have to present something and this time's another family wedding and I'm the Emcee. Surprisingly I downed 9 glasses of wine and felt nothing.

I have no travel plans now. Bangkok/Vietnam/Siam Reap/Japan anyone?

I suddenly have cravings for cheesecake and desserty stuff. Argh my family mart desserts and my fruity alcohols. I need to finish my 7 bottles of Japanese gin first.

strong zero memory

Over the easter weekend, I thought I haven't been to the club for a while after my Japan trip so when friends said they wanted to go, I thought yea why not, and I bought a small bottle of my gin, just for emergency use.

Also, I had 1 bottle of sparkling sake, 1 can of strong zero, 1 bottle of normal sake, 100ml of gin, 1 gin tonic, 1 jug of long island shared, 1 jug of vodka redbull shared with friends. After a while, I went to the dance floor to shake a bit and saw Delon my neighbour, then I went to pee.

I only remembered going back to the dance floor to find my friends but they were not there anymore, so I found Delon and shared a grab back with him at around 4am.

The next morning Jarren asked me if I'm home safe and I asked him why he didn't say bye when they went off. Apparently he said he told me they going off and I still came over to give them a hug, which I TOTALLY HAVE ZERO MEMORY.

This is so dangerous if I were in another place without friends. I had dinner with Woon and she asked me if I got raped, which I hoped not. But I vaguely remembered somebody was touching me all over for a while but I can't remember who. I need to thank Delon for bringing me back I remembered I can't even book a grab.
