Ubin

My virgin trip to Pulau Ubin at 28 years old. Haha such a disgrace, but this time I'm doing some environmental sustainability work.

"Uncle, speedboat ok?"
 Welcome to Ubin!
Woah HSBC has a hub there.
 Wild pigs
Chek Jawa, the coastal area we cleaned up.
 Fighting crabs
Mud crab posing
 Piglets!

So after lunch, went home, changed and out to watch Avengers with the boys at Cathay. Happy day!

Meeting with SH mates

So Lynn finally came back from her Australia/Figi Mission trip!
Met her at Raffles Place, we wanted to try this new place called fire kitchen and drink (Fye Cyrene) but it was full on a Friday night so we went for thai food instead at Tom Yum Kungfu. I've been there a few times for lunch, their dinner is mainly for steamboat but we didn't order that. The ala carte Thai food was fantastic as well.

After walking around Asian Civilliation Museum, we realised it was museum day. Haha. Watch some spiritual folk music at Esplanade. I really liked them because they were so into the music, so devoted and believed in the music. It's so mesmerising to see performers indulging and enjoying their music creation.

Walked to Marina Sq because she wanted to try Llao Llao, then we went to find a place to drink and ended up at Switch.

Switch's frozen Mojito!
The next week, we meet KW coz Lynn's flying to London. Jealous max. And we got a reservation at the place we wanted to try!
We shared a platter, ordered drinks and desserts. Really cool place. I love their concept of caveman theme. Even their restaurant name is caveman language! LOL. I need a haircut.
Pork, Steak and Lamb Ribs. Pork was the best, and the lamb ribs didn't have the lamb smell. I like the truffle sauce.
This is the main star of the night. I wanted to try this a long time. Pistacho Lava cake with Pandan ice cream.
Just look at that madness. It was one of the best desserts I have eaten. I love the pandan ice cream so much I'm gonna try to replicate it.

Overall good meetup, good food and company. Love it!

biography of 2 phones

I was awake for a few weeks and my owner liked playing games on me. One day my careless owner dropped me and my face cracked like a spider web. I didn't mind that my face was disfigured because I was still usable and it never really affected my owner in playing his games! Then a few days ago, my owner accidentally dropped me into a drain with water. Somehow I became cranky and couldn't pick up or make calls. That's when my owner pulled his sim card out of me...
- Biography of a Samsung phone

I was activated 4 years ago by my owner but he changed to a newer version of me a few months ago so I was switched off and left on his cupboard, waiting to be sold off or recycled. Suddenly I was awake, my memory reset and a new sim card was inserted! My old owner downloaded a few new games on me.. like solitare or bubble shooter and covered me with a protective bumper to prevent my new careless owner from dropping and injuring me! Now my new owner is happily playing games on me like a little kid. I hope my battery backpack can still survive for long!

At the supermarket

I feel like an auntie now. Whenever I see discounts in the supermarket, I will just buy, thinking that I would need it. I was shopping for Gula Melaka syrup at JP NTUC when I suddenly spotted Magnum ice cream: 2 boxes of 6 mini Magnum for $15.90, and one box of 3 Champagne magnum for free. 12 mini magnums and 3 normal Magnums. Who can resist that deal.

And today I just bought so much fruits because they were on sale. Strawberries, golden Kiwi, Avocados and apples.

Ya, I should probably stop buying things. Argh.

I'm spending wayyyy too much this and last month on food.
My wallet's weight is transferring to my body.

BnJ Free Scoops 2015

So for 2 consecutive Tuesdays, my favourite ice cream place had been giving out free ice cream and how can I miss it?

Ben n Jerry's just had a new outlet at 313!! The first free ice cream Tuesday was the store opening, where I won a BnJ scoop, notebook, slippers and beach mat, and within 1 hour I had 5 different flavours of ice cream. The queue was really quick and we would take the free scoop and queue again while finishing our scoop. The Coconut Seven Layer Bar was really good and I thought it would be a new flavour in Singapore but apparently it was only available on that day. Other than that, I had Chocolate Therapy, Strawberry, Playmoolah Mochabundance (some Coffee flavour) and English Toffee Crunch. I went to Mc Donald's for dinner after. It was a fat day.

The next Tueday was the real free scoop day, which had a really long queue. Almost 2 hours for 2 scoops and they don't have my new favourite Coconut Seven Layer Bar!! I only had a Cherry Garcia and Chocolate Therapy but I always asked for a BIG scoop while they were scooping and it always end up really big. Love it.  Dinner at Cocoichibanya after and it was another not-so-thin day.

Time to burn those calories!

0804

0804 was a date that I would remember because it's the date of my enlistment into NS 9 years ago. (Woah NS was 9 years ago)

080415 is a date that would replace it because it's the date of my announcement into my new company. My manager sent the official announcement and it came back with so many well wishes: from my department head in Sg, global head in London, global head of risk in London and my mentor.

Receiving personal emails from them is like wow.

All aboard

Last week was really crazy.

With the passing of LKY, the nation mourned for a week, the whole environment in the office and media is so solemn and depressing. Every morning while reading articles from Today's papers, I never fail to tear up and feel sad. And I can't talk to anyone about that. It nearly drove me mad. I have no idea where my inner peace was.

On 1st April Wednesday, I had signed the papers and officially on board (not a AF's joke btw). After almost a year I have made it thus far. Last Friday our team had a buffet treat from me and Sean at a Japanese restaurant. The official announcement was made yesterday and the heads came to pat me on my back and asked when I am treating deserts. -_-

I haven't met Naifen for quite sometime now so yesterday we had a pretty good and cheap buffet at Jiang Nan at Marina Square. The Hong Shao Rou and the Taro bun and the Liu Sha Bao... totally amazing. The warm and delicious liquid on the buns bursting in your mouth. Orgasmic. After that was Operation Dagger with Chairmeh. Mulled Wine was good, Sugarcane was spicy, Egg tastes like bailey's and Rock and Rye did the usual. More cocktails to come.

On a side note, I made Cherry Garcia ice cream with Valrhona Chocolate and too much sugar. I loved it so much I think I'm gonna make it again with the appropriate amount of sugar this time. Somebody said it's normal on Sunday. Maybe the Jiang Nan experience was better.
