greed and stupidity

In a super bad mood today coz I made a stupid mistake yesterday. Or rather, this morning.

At 2am, was earning about $100 plus already, reached my target of 50 per day, and itchy fingers and greed took over me and clicked 50 more when it was at the peak and it spiraled down and I panicked and lost $40. URGH. Greed and stupidity. Fortunately I acted quickly if not I would have lost even more.

thinking about new bags

I am still thinking of that $3350 LV aerogram messenger bag. It's so beautiful.
Honestly I am not going to buy it unless there's some special discount or I earn some lottery or I get a really really good bonus this year. Of course I can afford it now, it's just a matter of choosing to spend or not. Just like I can afford to buy a car now full cash, or I could go on a luxurious staycation but I can also use the money to buy something else more valuable.

Nobody will be selling it on carousell since it's so new. I need a new office bag but what's gonna happen to my trusty Jack Spade that I have used for the last 7 years? The more I see this bag the more I like it. Argh. Why is it so expensive. I think I have nothing to do so I keep looking for things to buy.

I need to discard things. Maybe discard my thought of buying bags too.

first HDL in SG

This is the first time I had Hai Di Lao in Singapore.
I had always been having HDL in Shanghai so the Singapore outlets didn't appeal to me, it's just not worth it to pay 3x more when I can eat HDL for every meal when I go China. And also, Lao Wang is better than HDL in my opinion.

But because CC was late for an hour he treated, and Alex had VVIP member so we had premium fruits LOL. And also, free cockage! Means we can bring our own wine while having steamboat! How nice is that!
My virgin HDL after they open for 5 years in SG. It was a good one.

LV messenger bag

I needed to take 10 days of leave before June so I took block leave this week. Last weekend till now I have been reminding myself to plan what to do but I'm really out of ideas so I stayed home and didn't do anything on Monday. What a waste urgh.

I didn't want to stay home again on Tuesday so I went to the gym, bugis for a haircut, borrowed some books at the library, shopped a bit at Bugis, bought oyster mee sua and headed back. Wednesday was Izakaya, Thursday was Keyaki and Friday Peppermint and MBS.

On Friday I wanted to see some polo tees so Andy drove us to MBS. I tried on some Dior polos but both Justin and Andy said that a bag is more worth it coz you use it everyday but clothes only like once a month or something. Andy pulled us to LV after that and I saw this.
I didn't find it nice at all, but after the sales lady explained the concept behind this bag I was poisoned deeper and deeper.
All black, low profile minimalist design, maximum style, this is part of the capsule LV Aerogram collection and there is only 1 bag per shop. I am falling in love with this bag.
But at a price tag of $3350, I cannot. I totally cannot bring myself to spend $3350 on a LV bag and if I did, I would really become a basic bitch. Andy could spend 2K on his small Dior which I just don't get.
After that I also tried on their polos, which were amazingly comfortable and cheaper than Dior. I'm wearing XS as compared to S in Dior.

But nah, I can't spend $715 on a polo tee either.

Peppermint on block leave Friday

Our dance club leader Kelvin came back so we had lunch buffet at Peppermint, which was the new peranakan restaurant at the newly renovated Park Royal Marina Bay. Just nice there was also 3 for 2 UOB promotion hehe.
Overall the food was average and the service was below average.  There wasn't much variety on the menu and desserts were meh. The female server didn't know what kind of drinks were available and everything also don't know. The older female server took so long for my bill and didn't even know what promotion there were. Sigh. I don't think we would return again, even when the bill came to $51 per pax.

The Melt Cafe buffet was so much better with oysters and lobster, and service was so much better.

After that we went to MBS for my shopping.. next post for more ideas.

Keyaki on block leave Thursday

There was a Citibank credit card promotion for Keyaki and I immediately thought of going on a hot date with Kat. I've always wanted to go there since I saw people posting on IG about this Japanese looking place.

The place was amazing, it was like a small part of Japan on 4th floor open area in Pan pacific hotel. We took lotsa pics and pretended we were in Japan.
The food was really quite amazing and high quality no doubt. We ordered a flask of sake to share as well. The sashimi were fresh, the best was actually the yakimono which surprised us.
Damage was around $109, which wasn't so bad for a 7 course meal. I wouldn't go if there were no promotion though heh. It was quite filling towards the end although the portions were small but overall good experience.

Izakaya on block leave Wednesday

After 2 boring days of leave I finally pulled myself out of the house to explore the places I always wanted to go. First stop was lunch at eat3bowl, supposedly one of the best/authentic Taiwanese food in SG.
I reached at 2pm and there were still people queueing, wow. 3 bowls of their signatures and a bubble tea for $18. I thought it was a little expensive. All were quite good, I had expected the Lu Rou Fan to be better but it was still good la. I had high expectations since I still remember all my lu rou fans in Taiwan. But I probably wouldn't queue for more than 20 mins for these.
Next was Brotherbird Coffeehouse. I always wanted to try their croissants but there were only this Matcha pain de chocolate left, which was still really good. Then I took bus to Somerset for dinner with Vivi. I made a reservation at the Izakaya that CC introduced.
There were only 8 seats in the Izakaya - very elusive and only reserved for regulars and I had to make the reservation in Japanese. The owner doesn't like to cook but his food is absolutely amazing. He likes his customers to drink and he would chase customers out of the shop if they order more food than drinks. First off, we ordered a bottle of shochu with fruity tea aroma - it really tastes like that.
Next the food menu was on the wall, and first thing we spotted was Shark's Heart. Feeling adventurous we order it, together with Oden, saba sashimi and chicken karage.
The shark's heart came in a plate of red raw meat in seasoning and lotsa spring onion as seen. Vivi and I were a bit taken aback because we thought it would be cooked, but after one bite... it was actually not bad. It tasted like chicken cartilage with the crunchy bits. The Oden and saba sashimi was sooooo good urgh. Ken and Jarren came to join us after and we ordered a bottle of Neighbour's Wife Shochu, which tasted like sake - sweet and fruity, really nice.

The whole vibe was so nice and we foresee that we will become regulars here.

An almost perfect day

Saturday after gym Eric and I went to watch Godzilla vs Kong, which wasn't so bad but the effects were too much I guess. It was just meh for me actually. Anyway I had UOB discount $9.50 per ticket so it wasn't so bad. We ate DTF for dinner - I haven't ate Chinese food for a long while and I went over to CC's place for some drinking.

At night it started to rain and cab was too expensive so I slept over. Didn't sleep well coz I'm too used to sleeping at home I think, or I just wasn't tired enough. And woke up at 6.22am to see LJ and Reika chatting on whatsapp while they were feeding their babies LOL. Eventually woke up at 11am, showered, headed home to change and headed to ah ma's house to bai bai coz it was Qing Ming.
Lunch was so good... Sigh... After finishing my food I was just sitting there and admiring and enjoying the sight of the food. My stomach was so happy, it was so worth the calories. After lunch was catching up with the cousins and playing with the kids.

Anyway went back to nap and was supposed to make 2 carousell deals and then meet Andy for dinner at the very exclusive Izakaya. It was a 8-seater so it was really hard to make reservation but in the end his boss pulled him for dinner and I had to cancel the reservation. Such a waste.

I just went to make my 2 carousell deal: I sold my teacup set I bought another Diptyque candle. Before anyone says AGAIN?!?! - This is a limited edition candle, sold out everywhere. This scent is the scent of the first Diptyque store in France. They used machines to collect the scent from the 4 corners of the store and turned it into a candle. At first I regretted getting this scent because it is just not my type but it started to grow on me, it's very mysterious. It is a truly beautiful candle jar.
It would have been a perfect 24 hours if we had gone to the Izakaya for dinner.
Good food and drinks, good company, good shopping goods.
