Gaga

I woke up to Lady Gaga's Edge of Glory ringing in my head at 5am and couldn't sleep nor get it out of my head till sunrise. The aftermath of the most perfect english concert I've seen.

The perfectly synchronised dance moves of the dancers glistering with sweat after the second opening song, the execution of songs in various awkward positions but still very well pitched and the little personal tales of the lady before she became Gaga. It was perfect.

so anyway I spent 4 hours trying to make Mille Crepe.

I had difficulty turning the pieces of crepe over after one side was done so it resulted in burnt fingers and broken crepes. The custard filling was quite good except i'd prefer to use whipping cream which I have not mastered.

IR interview

I'm so relieved its over.

I have no idea why I was so nervous for the presentation. Doing presentations are like bathing to me, I've been trained by my FYP, biz modules and a lot of courses in school. Plus I had input from some of my friends, I should be very confident.
And I lost sleep too. I went to bed at 2 and couldn't sleep until I hear the first LRT which signals 5am.

Its the stress that I put on myself. The last time I lost sleep because of stress was year 2 exams and year 1 life science when I kept going through the facts in my head until the sun came up.
It wasn't even worth putting stress man! Its just a presentation!

There were 3, but I'd say its a fair fight between the 2 of us.
The third is really out of our league. The moment he mentioned social media its totally gone. U mean owners of manufacturing plants will add you on fb when they wanna buy an air compressor? And what is he trying to  do trying to promote the products to the people who sells it? And not to mention presentation style trying to impress us with lousy figures. It doesn't help when he slouches when presenting, wears a oversized white crocodile shirt which has been overwashed to a little yellow and belt not matching the colour of the shoes.
I apologize but this fella is a total noob. I'd rather not associate with him as the business minor gang.

Now the other is a challenge. Carefully crafted answers with a hint of his intelligence, trying to give us credits because he thought he had an unfair advantage, I cannot foresee if he is genuine or trying to buy us over. Ya, I guess I shouldn't doubt his kindess. He's a smart guy, so I guess the trophy is between the two of us.

Despite insufficient sleep, eyelid infection, heaty BBQ food the day before, I guess my brain works better when I put stress on myself and force my brain to work. I excelled in both of the two activities they threw us after the presentation.

Build a car using Lego? I can do it blind with one hand.
A bridge using cardboard? Hello, 2nd upper Mech engine guy here.
No fight. And I thought I would have some serious competition with maybe good NUS students or something.

I really hope they give us what we are really worth after so much.

Chalet BBQ

Playing board games with my university friends is a real mind challenge.

We were playing Citadel in the chalet while waiting for BBQ to start, the game advanced to a level of reverse-reverse-reverse psychology. It was so challenging that none of us could stray away from the focus of the game. They will observe every move you make, every move you are going to make and every move that you are not going to make, with reverse reverse reverse psychology. Yeah, it is so scary to have smart friends. But this really maximizes the challenge of the game.

The BBQ was quite successful except for the irritating sick cat roaming around sneezing. GROSS. Food was enough and well cooked, the only thing missing was vegetables. Our mosquito IC set up a mosquito coil parameter, drinks were refilled and fortunately the BBQ ended when it started the drizzle.

A good graduation BBQ! I'm so looking forward to grad trip.

We had Bakerzin's Choco Amer for desserts and celebrated chin's bdae. Yay! If not the for presentation the next day, I would have stayed for the chalet.

Cafebiz

Field report for DBS card promotion 1-for-1 buffet dinner at Cafebiz at Trader's hotel.

Total damage for Tuesday dinner: $33 (original price $56++)

The place is very classy and buffet area is quite big and spread out.
Appetizers were rojak and salads.
Fresh seafood on a bed of ice includes fresh and big oysters which were too big for my liking, prawns, mussels and snails which grossed me out.
The snow crab legs were so good! Sweet and juicy in each bite.

I liked how they placed the fruits at the appetizers. Fruits are supposed to be eaten before a meal as opposed to the traditional after-meal. They had the normal sushi and fresh salmon and tuna sashimi.

The mains were kinda disappointing, although there were variety. Quality wasn't as good and the food wasn't refilled as fast as they were depleted.
I like eating cute bunnies.

Fortunately we attacked the dessert section after appetisers, before everyone else. We only took a few back to our table and after our mains, most of them were gone.
The desserts were NEVER refilled after they were gone - a super bad move by Cafebiz.
How could you not refill your desserts when its the most important part of the meal?!??! Is there only one round of desserts for a buffet??!

The quality of food were so-so, not as exquisite as 10@Claymore, only the snow crab legs saved the entire buffet. Desserts were not bad but those who went late didn't get a taste of it after it has been cleared by earlier customers.

I still prefer 10@Claymore for the quality. I guess the price was worth the 1-for-1 but I wouldn't pay for the regular price because they don't serve enough food.

no deadlines

I used to know how to prioritize my assignments according to deadlines, but how do you set your timetable with no deadlines?

There's a list of things I wanna do during the holidays (now), I just have no idea when to start because I don't have a deadline to anything! I just wanna do whatever I wanna do before i go on a month's worth of holiday in K land and J land and then maybe start working after that (that's if I find a job).

Here's a catch: if i finish things too quickly i will have nothing left to do. Unlike during school time, finishing your assignments, homework and projects quickly means start leisure stuff quickly.

schoolwork x time + leisure x time = constant K, where K is a function of deadline

so if schoolwork = 0,

leisure x time = K

But there is no deadline, K is infinity, so either time is infinity or leisure is infinity.

 I'm just bored
and my bed is a thief. It keeps stealing hours from me.

The pool

Oh how i love a relaxing dip in the pool.

The Sun graces your face with its shine, the water embraces you with its warmth and the therapeutic sounds of the waves. and again, the whole pool is mine on a Monday afternoon.

I could really get used to doing nothing but swimming and tanning the entire day.

last NTU assignment

I have just handed in my last assignment for NTU - The FYP CD.

I guess there's really nothing left to do in NTU except convocation day. Not feeling particularly nostalgic, I'm just having the summer break mood right now.

And I have cleared a lot of files on my lappie, tidied the notes for storage, got rid of every academic article on my desk and everything looks real sparkling clean now.

A brand new start to everything.

interviews

when you think the life of exams or assessments are behind you after graduating, the real life of exams and assessments comes chasing after you in the workforce.

Job searching is a bitch. not job searching. Career searching. and it reminded me of how much i hated interviews. Its just all answers of what the interviewer wanna hear.

"why you choose to join us?" "oh because i'm interested in chemistry... and business.." YA RITE!! of coz you wanna join because you need money to pay off your college debts and to lead a normal life! duh!

and when you think exams have ended after the last exam, companies slap you on your face with more exam-like case studies that you have to present for an interview. Companies just loveeeee to torture fresh grads.

sighs why can't companies just hire back their interns.

Guilty pleasures

What i like most during exam times is stealing some enjoyment time here and there.

Watching some brainless comedies, surfing useless websites, suddenly picking up green lantern to read, moving the box on iphone, stealing a nap in the afternoon, eating ice cream, arranging the table.. etc.

It makes you feel good because your mind tells you to study but you just want to rebel against it. And you know that almost all of your friends are studying while you'r the one playing and you can smirk at them and think 'hey look I don't need to put in so much effort to get the same grades as you. or even better..'

At the same time guilty because of the time wasted doing those things you enjoy instead of studying or something relevant to exams.
