at Exxon

As compared to fast-moving bank stint, 2 weeks into work here is rather relaxing.

Banks make deals everyday so they have to be processed every single day. No matter how many there are and how difficult they can be, they are still routine. Marketing, on the other hand, takes up more time and brainpower mainly because of its complexity and the ever changing environment.

As an engineer, i felt quite weird doing marketing. It is not physical and you can't confirm the final product or results, for example making a laptop consists of many processes and parts but the end product is still physical and touchable. It's just graphs, a lot of talkings and assumptions, data, information, but no end results.
It's like zero gravity, nothing for support or hold things down, only plain imagination.

Well, thats my jobscope and at least i have unrestricted internet!

one thing i can't get used to is the safety policy. Do you know that...
you will be fined $40 if you climb the stairs without holding the rails?
you can't fill your cup more than 80% full coz you might spill it?
you must knock on the toilet doors before entering because somebody might be at the other side?
there are safety mirrors all around corners?
you can't hold a cup and turn your chair at the same time?

yups. Strict Rules just like the army.
