Lagom

Lagom is a Swedish word meaning "just the right amount". The word can be variously translated as "in moderation", "in balance", "perfect-simple", and "suitable" (in matter of amounts).
The archetypical Swedish proverb "Lagom är bäst", literally "The right amount is best".

It's complementary of my life quote I've always used: Principle of Equivalent Trade.

I just love this word, the Swedish concept and I'm living by it now. It means that everything should be balanced, just the right amount, not too much not too little. That briefly describes my life and the direction that I'm pursuing.

Example, I used to want to live in a big house with high ceiling, like a landed property with balcony and outdoor BBQ, but I realised that no, I just need sufficient space for myself. Just enough and I'm contented with that. No space should be wasted for the sake of wanting.

Also my clothes. I seriously have too many clothes and I'm desperately trying to get rid of those that I do not want, but it's just so difficult. I just have one piece per special occasion. But I seriously have to Marie Kondo everything within 2 years, slowly so that I just have enough and what I need. Same goes for my shoes.

It also keeps me satisfied and contented. I don't need more (that's what I tell myself when I shop online, only buy what's needed and necessary), I don't need less. Just nice.

Life is Lagom. Lagom is life.
