My minimal friend

I have a friend whom I knew from work, just 3 years older than me, working for a boutique fund house.

I wasn't really sure what's his background at first but from his accent I could tell he's from Indonesia, an Indo Chinese to be exact. Then as time goes and futher digging from me, he revealed that he studied at a boarding school in UK for A levels, and then went on to LSE for a double degree, worked in London, Australia, HK before. He currently owns his own apartment.

From this, you could tell that he comes from a very well-to-do family, and he's also very well to do now. I have no idea of his well-to-do-ness until he invited me to his place for a swim. I thought it was just another small condo, but no. The private lift reaches his apartment directly, the moment I stepped out of the lift it's his apartment already. It was on the highest floor, the view was beautiful, until I realised he had a second floor. Omg. It wasn't just another condo apartment for single. It was a two room, with a second floor, on the highest floor of the block, with a private lift. He stays alone. See the highest floor on the picture.

The whole apartment is so minimal, almost empty. There's no art pieces, only a few pots of plants outside, and no rubbish lying around. It looks like he just moved in but he said he has been staying for 3 years already. It's unbelievable how minimal he is. My room is like a rubbish chute compared to his house.

From the way he dresses he doesn't buy branded stuff, just the usual uniqlo, nike, addidas, no fancy watches either, he doesn't wear watches. He actually isn't one to receive guests so his fridge has no alcohol, no speakers for music so I asked him what he does every night after work he said swim and watch TV. He doesn't cook either, he just eats out. When I asked him about his work trip to Vietnam or other places he will just say there's nothing there. He'd rather cut himself LOL. We both are fans of Japan though.

So there you go. Super minimal friend, I really can't imagine being that minimal. He also has no/minmal social media, so probably that's the main reason.
If you don't see it, you won't want it.
If you don't know about it, you won't feel anything towards it.
Just like if I didn't know about this friend, I wouldn't realise
