Popo

My grandmother in Port Dickson passed away on Saturday night. My mum came into my room late at night and said that they are going to drive in the next morning but I wasn't prepared or anything so I would go with my cousins instead on Sunday night.

I packed in the morning, went back for a quick work on Sunday afternoon (shocked to see people working on a Sunday evening), then went to have dinner with a friend and met my cousin at Bugis, back home and we went into JB at midnight, then headed to PD at 2am, reached at 5am.

How she passed away remained a mystery, and they said she either starved or stuffed. LOL. My uncle came back that night to wake her up from her nap and couldn't wake her, and nobody knows if she have had dinner or had 2 rounds of dinner, but I'm glad she died peacefully, without any suffering. I think everyone had the same thought, it was so chill.

She was a very chill grandmother. Her legs are weak so she had to hold a walker and she would just sit at her favourite seat outside the house for meals or to just stare at the nature and occasionally asked if we had a cigarette LOL. And when I asked her if she would let me smoke and she would be like "PFFFF smoking is not good" and she would do those funny things that people ask her to. Her reactions to my cousins are quite funny as well (and my cousins are super funny too) so all in all she's quite funny. I think we all inherited that trait.

The funeral lasted for 3 days, we had to do some rituals in the evening, other than we just hung out in the morning and afternoon. Almost all the family members went back, including my closest childhood cousin whom I had not seen for many years so it was a good reunion, and we made a lot of jokes as usual, even during the rituals (sorry). It wasn't like CNY where there are lotsa food and stuff but most shops were open so we drove out to drink and eat. It was fun. The final day after the burial we headed back to sg directly.

I actually needed a break after working for so long without one, so this break came right on time, and I'm really thankful. I took all 5 days of compassionate leave so I could spend the rest of the week playing. LOL.

People say it takes death for everyone to come together and it's quite true. CNY would never be the same anymore without my grandmother but I'll still go back for a reunion.
It was really fun, my cousins and I really enjoyed hanging out together, even though it was a funeral but it was a happy one and I guess she also wanted us to enjoy ourselves.

Bye Popo, enjoy yourself. We will miss you.
